Council adopts 2026 federal and state legislative platforms, updates building codes, approves multiple contracts; studies gas station land-use rules
At the January 13, 2026 City Council meeting the Council met in closed session (real property negotiation received and filed), held a study session on gas station land use regulations and directed staff to return with answers to outstanding questions, and approved several consent and report items. Key actions included adoption of the 2026 Federal Legislative Platform and 2026 State Legislative Platform (two resolutions), adoption of the 2025 California Building Standards and related local amendments (Ordinance No. ORD-2026-001), appointments to regional boards (Sonoma Clean Power and Zero Waste Sonoma), and approval of multiple contract amendments and purchase orders (including amendments to agreements with Mission Linen Supply, Stroupe Petroleum Maintenance, Smile Business Products, and an EMS Continuous Quality Improvement Coordinator amendment). Vice Mayor Okrepkie recused from portions of the state platform item. The meeting adjourned at 5:55 p.m.
