Public Art Commission appoints representative to DDA mural selection committee; hears Elevating History presentation and advances Golden Paintbrush planning

At its December 3, 2025 electronic meeting, the Ann Arbor Public Art Commission appointed Chair Mary Thiefels as the Commission representative to the Downtown Development Authority’s “Elevating History” mural selection committee; received a presentation on the Elevating History mural series, grounded in the Living Oral History Project and involving the DDA, Ann Arbor Art Center, and the Ann Arbor African American Cultural and Historical Museum; discussed timeline and community engagement for the mural project; reviewed staff updates on end-of-year obligations and Golden Paintbrush Award planning; and voted to move the January 2026 meeting from January 7 to January 14 to allow time for officer elections and annual planning.
