Council accepts certification of 2026 public safety parcel tax initiative, schedules June 2 special election; advances two planning-code ordinances and approves multiple consent items

At the March 3, 2026 concurrent meeting the City Council accepted the City Clerk’s certification for the 'Oakland Public Safety, Cleanliness and Community Accountability Act of 2026' and placed it on the June 2, 2026 ballot; introduced and approved as amended two Planning & Building Department ordinances (SB 79 S-8 combining zone and S-14 housing sites amendments) for final passage at a special March 16 meeting; and adopted numerous consent resolutions including emergency declarations, contracts, settlements, infrastructure actions, and acceptance of OPD surveillance technology annual reports.
