Aug 14, 2025 Sister City Committee reviews student exchange, approves July minutes, addresses budget and transition items
On August 14, 2025 the Corpus Christi Sister City Committee met in the Staff Conference Room (City Hall). Six members were present and two absent. The committee unanimously approved the July 10, 2025 minutes. Subcommittee reports covered a Student Exchange Report and pilot programs (pen pal and culinary exchange), confirmation that all exchange students returned safely and a request to review Student Exchange policy, a Budget & Fundraising update reporting a $4,000 remaining city fund balance that must be spent by September 30, 2025 and an inquiry (via Liaison Box) about transferring the fund balance to the Chamber of Commerce, and a Transition update noting Mae Ferguson is rewriting committee bylaws. New business: the committee tabled new subcommittee appointments, had no update on operations/policy development, set the next meeting for September 30, 2025 (in lieu of September 11), and discussed gift options (city lapel pins, ascots, belt buckle) for the U.S.-Japan Summit. The meeting adjourned at 1:02 p.m.
