Cultural Commission (Oct 6, 2025) approves 2026 meeting calendar and Halloween contest rules; reviews seasonal events
Five commissioners attended (Commissioners Roy, Diaz, von Huene, Das, Samara); Commissioners Pontious and Garg were excused. The Commission approved the August 4, 2025 minutes, approved the Cultural Commission calendar of meetings for 2026 (to be recommended to City Council), and approved the Halloween Home Decorating Contest rules and program as part of the FY 2025/26 work plan. Staff reported upcoming community events including a Diwali event (Oct. 23), Dia de los Muertos celebration at Mission City Memorial Cemetery (Oct. 24) with a community ofrenda through Nov. 7 and a screening of Coco, the SpooktaClara Children's Halloween Party in Central Park (Oct. 25), and planning for the Holiday Tree Lighting (Dec. 5). The meeting adjourned at 9:09 PM. The next meeting is scheduled for December 7, 2025 at 7:00 PM.
