City Council adopts Economic Chapter of Olympia 2045, approves Axon services agreement and budget amendment; requests recycling update
The Olympia City Council met October 21, 2025 (6:00 PM, Council Chambers/online). Six councilmembers were present; Mayor Pro Tem Yến Huỳnh was excused. Announced appointment: Sylvana Niehuser as Parks, Arts and Recreation Director. The Council received a student art recognition for the 2026 Water Resources Stewardship Through Art calendar, heard three public commenters and asked Public Works to report back on a replacement glass and cardboard recycling option for the downtown drop-off site. The Consent Calendar passed, including bill and payroll certification (Payroll total: $6,726,442.90; Claims total: $4,252,926.52). The Council approved a resolution accepting the Economic Chapter of the Olympia 2045 Comprehensive Plan, a resolution authorizing a consolidated master services and purchasing agreement with Axon Enterprises, Inc. (body‑worn and interview-room cameras, tasers, translation services, software licenses, digital evidence management and support), and approved an ordinance amending Ordinance 7434 (third quarter budget amendment) on second reading. The Council recessed to an executive session to discuss a personnel matter; no decisions were announced. Meeting adjourned at 8:13 PM.
