Special Life Enrichment Committee — April 21, 2026: library agreements, grants, youth employment awards, L/SLBE update
The Special Life Enrichment Committee convened at 4:02 PM with Chair Carroll Fife presiding; Councilmembers Noel Gallo, Charlene Wang, and Ken Houston (noted present at 4:07 PM) participated. The committee withdrew Item 5 (contract for customizable goods and apparel) to the pending list with no date. The committee approved library service agreements with the City of Piedmont ($1,082,955) and City of Emeryville ($459,827) and forwarded both to the May 5, 2026 City Council agenda on consent. The committee approved acceptance of Oakland Parks and Recreation Foundation grants (up to $10,000,000 through June 30, 2036) and approved Mayor’s Summer Youth Employment and OFCY summer program grant awards (nine grants totaling $1,480,253.60 and twelve grants totaling $1,712,558.00) — all forwarded to the May 5, 2026 City Council agenda on consent.
