The Common Council met Jan. 20, 2026 (called to order 9:42 a.m., adjourned 10:47 a.m.; 14 present, Ald. Zamarripa excused). Council approved Licenses Committee recommendations (including renewal of Petro Mart licenses with a warning letter and sending a non-consensual towing application back to committee), adopted numerous Public Works resolutions (state/municipal highway agreements, 2026 CIP items, funding transfers, and sewerage-related change orders), passed Finance & Personnel actions (pay/position amendments, bond/note authorizations, acceptance of a DOJ COPS grant), and approved public safety and traffic ordinances. Additional actions included land disposition sales, acceptance of HUD Continuum of Care funding, adding a tree-planting request option to the MKE Mobile App, and resolutions such as declaring Cesar Chavez Day.
