Taunton City Council Minutes — April 28, 2026: Licenses, Special Permit Hearing, Towing Contracts, Flock Cameras, Solid Waste Oversight
Council convened with nine councilors present. The April 21 record was approved. A procession request for May 24, 2026 was approved and referred to the Police Chief. Twelve license items (junk collector/dealer, pawn, old gold, second-hand, temporary vendor) were referred to the Committee on Police and License and the Police Chief. A special permit petition for a 56-unit multi-family development on Bay Street was referred to the City Clerk to schedule a public hearing. Communications regarding police-assisted vehicle towing services were referred to the Committee on Police and License and the Committee of the Whole; related discussion included researching Chapter 30B procurement authority. The Solid Waste Committee vote on an Oversight Board was referred to Ordinance & Enrolled Bills and the Law Department to draft ordinance changes. Council referred a discussion with Chief Walsh about the City's use of Flock cameras to the Committee on Police and License. Earth Day cleanup volunteers and DPW were acknowledged.
