Mayor Pro Tem Saunders called the meeting to order at 5:02 p.m. and called the roll. All members of Council were present except Mayor Nick Long and Andy Mann.
Parks and Recreation Director Chien Wei introduced Blake Coleman, Principal with TBG Partners, who gave a presentation on the proposed Pat Hallisey Park-Memorial.
The Site and its History:
• Texas Killing Fields is an area along I-45, where 34 victims have been discovered, primarily young women.
• Many of these cases remain unsolved
• Four victims were found in League City, Texas between 1984 and 1991: Heidi Villareal-Fye, 23; Laura Miller, 16; Audrey Lee Cook, 30; and Donna Gonsoulin Prudhomme, 34.
The League City Council vision for the memorial is not limited to just a memorial. It seeks a meaningful destination that draws people in and allows for a community gathering to celebrate life.
The purpose is to create a memorial that will serve as a space of remembrance, healing and community awareness, and honor 4 League City victims.
