Board supports leasing 217–219 North Walnut Street; directs basic cleaning, minor repairs, and inquiry into purchase of 223 North Walnut Street

At the Community Development Committee workshop on October 14, 2025 (called to order at 6:08 p.m.), the Board reviewed development options for 217–219 North Walnut Street and consented to staff's recommendation to lease the property without a leasing‑to‑buy option. The Board authorized basic cleaning, junk removal, and minor repairs, asked staff to meet with Public Works to prepare a checklist and timeframe, and directed staff to inquire about purchasing 223 North Walnut Street and obtaining architectural plans related to potential tenancy at 217–219. Staff provided cost estimates for preparing the building for market and tenant build‑out.
