EHS Committee forwards three ordinances on education programming and opioid-abatement funding to Council
The City of Richmond Education and Human Services Standing Committee met on February 12, 2026 at 2:00 PM in the Council Chamber, 2nd Floor - City Hall. The committee heard a presentation on Early Childhood Development and discussion items including Richmond Public Schools updates and a DCAO human services report. The committee forwarded three ordinances to the February 23, 2026 City Council meeting: an outside agency contract with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Richmond for expanded life-skills programming at Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School (recommended to approve with amendment), and two ordinances to accept opioid-abatement funds ($41,240 for harm reduction vending machines and $100,000 to create an “OAA Mini Grants Special Fund”) each recommended to approve.
