Commission recommends 2026–2027 work plan; approves agenda and January 26 minutes
The Social Justice & Equity Commission met February 9, 2026 at 6:00 PM in Council Chambers, City Hall. Nine commissioners were present. The commission approved the agenda and the January 26, 2026 minutes, heard public comment from Veronica Hand, and recommended the draft 2026–2027 SJEC Work Plan for approval by the City Council Community Livability & Public Safety Committee (vote: 8 Aye, 1 Abstained). Staff shared announcements (stipend certificate deadline, Home Buyer's Expo on April 18 and Thurston Forward DEIB Summit on May 1–2), a City Safety Guidance for Interactions with ICE flier, and plans for small-group coffee meetings. The meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
