Finance Committee approves investment policy update; reviews fire department capital needs and quarterly budget report
At the City of Olympia Finance Committee special meeting on February 23, 2026, committee members approved minutes from November 19, 2025 and January 26, 2026; discussed Olympia Fire Department capital repair, replacement, and vehicle replacement timing; reviewed quarterly budget report items (including jail costs, court contract costs, public safety overtime, worker's compensation claims, sales tax performance, B&O collections, Basic Life Support reimbursement, and building permit fees); and approved forwarding the draft City Investment Policy update (including a new ethical investment statement and a proposed increase in portfolio weighted average maturity from 2.0 to 2.5 years) to the full City Council. Finance staff also reported on a Department of Revenue sales tax audit. The meeting was called to order at 4:30 PM and adjourned at 6:16 PM.
