Newark Municipal Council adopts street, housing and grant measures; defers fossil-fuel restrictions
At its January 7, 2026 regular meeting the Newark Municipal Council adopted multiple ordinances and resolutions addressing street restoration and parking, a property transfer and tax-abatement amendment, accepted several grants (including WIC and Assistance to Firefighters), approved emergency financing actions, and deferred two ordinances related to prohibiting fossil-fuel facilities and use of city funds for fossil fuel.
