Council adopts grant and redevelopment measures, approves election and utility contracts, and defers multiple ordinances to Dec. 17
At the December 3, 2025 Municipal Council meeting in the Council Chamber, eight council members were present (Michael J. Silva absent). The Council adopted first-reading ordinances including opting into the Garden State C-PACE program and accepting a land donation for Newark Riverfront Park; authorized multiple grant insertions and applications (including $1,000,000 Brick City Peace Collective, $2,000,000 Anti‑Violence Out‑of‑School grant, $1,000,000 Arts & Education District grant, $25,000 NJBPU Community Energy Planning application); approved several private‑sale redevelopment actions and housing support resolutions; authorized election-related contracts and a Water & Sewer stormwater contract; confirmed a library board appointment; and deferred numerous public‑hearing ordinances (including several housing/tax abatement and environmental/zoning items) to December 17, 2025. Several motions on parking enforcement and related local issues were adopted.
