Committee on Contracts approves amended resolution urging State Legislature to allow awarding certain food contracts to qualified bidders within 10% of lowest bid
At the April 29, 2026 meeting, the New York City Council Committee on Contracts held a hearing and approved an amended resolution (Res. 0183-2026-A) calling on the State Legislature to pass, and the Governor to sign, S.7638.B/A.8091.B. The bill would allow certain purchase contracts for food to be awarded to a qualified bidder who meets specified standards when that bid is no more than 10% higher than the lowest responsible bidder. The amendment was proposed and adopted by the committee. Vote: 4 in favor (Restler, Brewer, Gennaro, Won); 3 absent (Hanks, Stevens, Vernikov).
