Metropolitan Council adopts rule amendment, confirms multiple appointees, advances zoning and transportation measures, and considers several public safety donations
The Metropolitan Council met January 20, 2026 (40 present). The Council adopted an amendment to Rule 9.3 (introduction of legislation); confirmed multiple commission appointments; approved numerous consent-agenda resolutions including transportation and water/sewer agreements; advanced and deferred multiple zoning and specific-plan bills; approved adding an Electric Vehicle Charging Station use to the zoning code (BL2025-1116, second reading as substituted); and debated several Metropolitan Nashville Police Department donations/grants from the Nashville Downtown Partnership, including a substituted grant for video cameras (RS2026-1733) that failed on roll call. The Council also approved public-safety grant awards including Violent Crime Intervention Fund (RS2026-1731) and related VCIF amendments.
