Committee finds substitute ordinances acceptable to expand zoning-notification radius and include all addresses
The Zoning Code Technical Committee met December 18, 2025. Members reviewed two substitute ordinances (Files 251071 and 241665) that increase public-notice requirements for zoning map amendment hearings from 200 to at least 250 feet and require notice to all mailing addresses (including streets and alleys) within that area. DCD Planning staff supported the change and noted 2026 funding will enable implementation and consolidation of mailing lists. Committee members moved that both ordinances meet criteria of legality, enforceability, administrative efficiency, and consistency with the zoning code; there were no objections. Discussion included interest in expanded outreach (including e-notification) and a forthcoming non‑substantive substitute to clarify by-law updates.
