MKE Community Impact Committee elects leadership; begins planning participatory budgeting process
At its April 14, 2026 virtual meeting the MKE Community Impact Committee unanimously elected Amanda Avalos as chair and Anita Johnson as vice-chair, approved prior minutes, received presentations on Wisconsin open meetings/public records law and on participatory budgeting from the African-American Roundtable, reviewed comparative research (Chicago, Seattle, Eau Claire), and discussed developing methodology, a rule book, public outreach (including a central website and survey) and next steps. The committee scheduled its next meeting for May 12, 2026; the meeting adjourned early due to a tornado shelter warning.
