City of Milwaukee Board of Health meeting minutes — April 1, 2026
The Board of Health met in person (Room 301A, City Hall) on April 1, 2026, from 5:02 PM to 5:58 PM with nine members present. The Board approved minutes from March 4, 2026. Community updates included Milwaukee Health Department’s Public Health Accreditation Board recognition, notice that City on a Hill is closing (last day April 3), and an announcement of Ascension’s “Medical Mission at Home” on May 2. Commissioner Dr. Mike Totoraitis reported on lead screening work with MPS and NOVIR and noted Congresswoman Moore’s office allocated $750,000 for testing; he also presented CHAP enrollment/renewal trends and concerns about declining clinic foot traffic and potential future work requirements. The Board voted unanimous bylaw amendments to change wording to “Chair” and “Vice Chair” and to clarify the Chair’s media duty (section 4.3f); discussion of public comment language was deferred pending City Clerk input. Improving Branch Collaborations & Assignments was tabled. Future agenda items include continued bylaw discussion, branch assignments, a CHA roadshow series, and a Youth Council for STI Support.
