Historic Preservation Board retreat reviews 2025 accomplishments and 2026 workplan
The City of Mesa Historic Preservation Board held a special retreat on January 10, 2026 at the Alston House (453 N Pima). All seven board members were present. Staff delivered presentations on the Mesa Historic Preservation Office 2025 accomplishments, Arizona Open Meeting Law, board roles and duties, project updates, and the 2026 Historic Preservation Workplan (including cultural resources review, GIS maps, historic landmarks/districts, student art & essay contest, archaeology, and outreach). The agenda included a field trip to the Washington‑Escobedo neighborhood and a discussion to identify board goals for 2026–2027. The meeting was called to order at 9:18 AM and adjourned at 3:16 PM.
