Library Commission approves collection and display policies; reviews staffing, facilities, and annual report
Meeting held September 15, 2025 at Gales Ferry Library. Eight commissioners present, one excused. Commissioners amended the agenda to remove the Library Director’s Assessment Committee report and add proofreading of three policies. The commission approved the Material Review and Reconsideration Policy, the Collection Development and Maintenance Policy, and the Display and Program Policy and authorized submission to the Connecticut Library Consortium. Director reported staffing changes and union discussions about reclassifying and posting a Children’s position, Hoopla service reinstated (initially funded from the materials budget), ongoing collection weeding, and facility safety concerns (request for front-step lighting; rusting/cracking under staircases). Friends of the Ledyard Library reported a $3,000 book sale. August 18, 2025 minutes were approved. Meeting adjourned at 7:31 p.m.
