Public Safety Commission elects chair/vice-chair, approves 2026 schedule; updates on dispatch, radio upgrades, EMD issues
The Town of Ledyard Public Safety Commission met December 8, 2025 at 3:30 PM in the Mayor's Office. Attendees included Emergency Management, Fire, Police, BOE and American Ambulance representatives. The commission accepted prior minutes, elected Steve Holyfield as Chair and Jon Mann as Vice Chair, and approved the 2026 meeting calendar. Staff reported a fully staffed dispatch center, progress on Fire/EMS radio upgrades (mobile radios installed, Knox Boxes moved to UHF), concerns and delays with the Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) review due to vendor export limitations, and installation of four Flock readers in town. Grants, PFAS testing, and transition timing for radio and CAD systems were discussed. The meeting adjourned at 16:08.
