Conservation Commission (Apr 14, 2026) approves March minutes; discusses trails, POCD, Sustainable CT, and environmental award nomination
The Conservation Commission met April 14, 2026 (Town Hall Annex, hybrid). Members approved the March 10, 2026 minutes. Public comment included a presentation seeking support to re-establish Gales Ferry as a Historic District Village. Informational items included Burton Park tree work, a proposed 20-house development on Silas Deane Highway with potential open space linkage, and the Commission’s plan to staff an informational table at the Alliance for the Mystic River Spring Fest (May 2, 2026). Old business covered Glacier Park trash cleanup and a proposed parking-lot assessment, fund balances (General $2,489; White‑Hall $16,714; Trail Maintenance $14,116), review of POCD goals, Ledyard Trails Task Force coordination (including Avalonia and Historic District Commission participation), and gathering documentation for Sustainable CT certification.
