Kansas City Council (Jan 15, 2026): Brownfields grant application approved; multiple planning, transportation, water and public-safety measures advanced

Council adopted an EPA Brownfields grant application for the Washington Wheatley neighborhood, approved the FY2026–27 budget development schedule, advanced multiple plats and rezonings, approved several water, aviation and public works contracts, authorized an EMS medical director contract renewal, moved forward public-safety actions including expansion of the Front Street detention facility and a moratorium on non-municipal detention facilities, and released a range of semi-annual docket items for committee review.
