Kansas City Council minutes — May 7, 2026: prevailing wage/incentives overhaul, neighborhood plan adoption, major transit and water contracts, and targeted appropriations

The Council met May 7, 2026. Members adopted several special-action resolutions (including Mental Health Awareness Month, National Correctional Professionals Week, and Food Allergy Awareness Month), passed an ordinance revising prevailing wage and incentive plan rules (260286) and other ordinance actions, approved a Heart of the City amendment to add the South Round Top neighborhood plan (260377), authorized major transportation and water contracts (including KCATA transit services agreement 260402 and a water main replacement contract with Abay Construction 260371), and approved targeted appropriations including $300,000 for home repair services with Rebuilding Together Kansas City (260380). Several items were referred to committee for further review.
