Fort Lauderdale Jan 6, 2026Fort Lauderdale City Commission adopts budget amendment, land leases, development approvals, and multiple ordinances — Jan. 6, 2026 The City Commission met January 6, 2026 and approved the Consent Agenda, adopted a consolidated FY2026 budget amendment, accepted the Urban Forestry Master Plan, authorized agreements and funding for International Swimming Hall of Fame dock and seawall projects, approved a major utility billing contract amendment, advanced and adopted several land-use and ordinance actions (including a ground lease for New River Trading Post and revisions to the City’s Unified Flex Policy), and took actions on event permits, procurement, and board appointments. Several public-safety and transportation items (school zone speed enforcement ordinance, FDOT aggressive driving funding, emergency purchase for the new police headquarters) were also acted on; a vehicle-for-hire ordinance was deferred to March 3, 2026.
