Youth Council advances student job‑board proposal; to present parking‑pass and lighting recommendations to City Council
At the January 14, 2026 Destin Youth Council meeting the group revisited the Youth Labor Rights Project, received a Sunshine Law clarification preventing subcommittees, and agreed to develop recommendations on student parking passes as a presentation to the City Council. Members proposed creating a centralized student job bank/job board (digital or school‑coordinated) to connect businesses with high school and homeschooled students, discussed compliance with child labor laws, and identified partners and outreach opportunities. Members volunteered for research, design, and event staffing, were asked to submit materials by January 23, and scheduled the next meeting for January 28 at 4:45 PM. No public comments were made.
