Cleveland City Council meeting (May 11, 2026): multiple emergency ordinances and resolutions approved; utility, public safety, youth, and environmental programs advanced
Council convened May 11, 2026 at 7:00 PM with President Blaine A. Griffin presiding. Fourteen members were present; Council Member Kevin L. Bishop was absent. Nine members of the public provided comment. Council received and filed communications including the Oath of Office for Elizabeth Crowe (Chief, Innovation & Technology). Council approved a slate of emergency ordinances and resolutions (motions carried by recorded vote where noted) including agreements and grant authorizations for utilities conservation services (CHN Housing Partners), after-school programming (After‑School All‑Stars), a climate resilience pilot grant application, easement grants to the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District for the Mill Creek Restoration Project, a utilities repair agreement with Cuyahoga County, and various procurement and public‑works contracts. Council also adopted multiple emergency resolutions concerning liquor permits and moved numerous other ordinances to administrative review (ITS capital projects, net metering/interconnection updates, solar arrays at landfills, lead service line replacement, repeal of a prior SiFi Networks ordinance, East Side TIF-related zoning/fee waivers, and others).
