Public Safety Committee recommends Ordinance 26-0144 (Safe Spaces and Communities) favorably with amendment
Meeting held March 23, 2026 at 10:00 AM (Virtual/Du Burns Council Chamber, City Hall). Attendance: Mark Conway, Zac Blanchard, Paris Gray, Phylicia Porter, and Antonio "Tony" Glover present; Danielle McCray and Isaac "Yitzy" Schleifer absent. The Committee recommended Ordinance 26-0144 (Safe Spaces and Communities) favorably with amendment to the Baltimore City Council. The ordinance addresses nondiscrimination based on actual or perceived immigration status, limits coordination with federal immigration officials, requires data governance standards and an immigration action response plan, and establishes policies for the Baltimore Police Department’s interactions with federal immigration officials.
