Renters Commission approves 2026 calendar, work plan, and bylaw changes; reviews rent-transparency ordinance update

The Renters Commission met electronically on December 18, 2025 (called to order at 5:30 PM). Nine commissioners were present and three were absent. The Commission unanimously approved the agenda; unanimously approved and forwarded the November 20, 2025 minutes to City Council; and unanimously approved the 2026 meeting calendar, 2026 work plan, and proposed bylaw changes. The Commission received an update on — and listed an item to consider supporting — an ordinance to create rent transparency and eliminate mandatory junk fees (no vote on that ordinance is recorded in these minutes). Communications to the Commission included a voicemail transcription to the Mayor, an FHA reasonable-accommodation question, and an inquiry about heating policy in rental properties.
