Historic District Commission approves 2026 meeting calendar; discusses Comprehensive Land Use Plan references to historic districts

The Historic District Commission met December 11, 2025 at Larcom City Hall. Seven commissioners were present. The Commission unanimously approved the 2026 HDC meeting calendar and unanimously approved the November 13, 2025 meeting minutes (forwarded to City Council). Chair Rochlen reported on how historic districts are referenced in the Comprehensive Land Use Plan (citing page 39) and summarized community feedback seeking balance between increased housing density, walkable streets, green space, amenities, and preservation of historic districts. Commissioners Carter and Rochlen volunteered for a Review Committee meeting on January 5, 2026. Staff noted that Planning is still accepting comments on the Comprehensive Land Use Plan. Communications and the Planning Activities Report were received and filed. The meeting adjourned at 7:13 PM.
