City Council approves multiple appointments, adopts Safer Community Places ordinance, and considers tax proposals; meeting adjourns after late session
At the March 16, 2026 City Council meeting (Vincent E. Griego Chambers), all nine Councilors were present. The Council approved consent items including insurance awards, legal services funding, quarterly litigation reports, transportation report receipt, and multiple board and committee appointments. The Council passed R-26-7 (CIP grant supplement), approved a citywide on-call traffic engineering contract, amended and debated O-26-16 (municipal gross receipts tax) but failed to pass it as amended, and passed O-26-15 (Safer Community Places ordinance). Several charter propositions (P-26-1, R-26-5) were postponed to April 6, 2026. The meeting adjourned at 11:21 p.m.
